Do you have a Food Lion grocery store in your area? Well then you may have noticed a gorgeous remodel done recently at your local store! Several Food Lion stores here in Virgina have gained a brand new look, and along with the new look have come some super cool perks as well! Last week, the kids and I took a stroll right down the street to our closest Food Lion store to check out some of the new features. First stop…. Produce!
The produce section at our local Food Lion had become my kids favorite spot in the whole store. I’ll be honest. My husband and I used to avoid the produce section at our store for a variety of reasons. But not anymore! The brand new look is vibrant and makes it easy to find just what we’re looking for. All the produce is fresh and beautiful. I purchase regularly bananas and strawberries at this particular store to use in my morning smoothies. The kids and I had trouble deciding…. apples or oranges?
I also loved the new produce information book that is stationed right in the middle of the produce department to answer any questions you may have, and a staff person is always around to help as well.
Food Lion has always been a store you could find good deals and save on groceries, but now it’s better than ever with thousands of prices lowered across the store. Using coupons and my MVP card (shopper’s loyalty card for Food Lion), and shopping their great sales, I was able to get our grocery purchase down from $270.92 to $182.64, saving $88.28. Food Lion always has great BOGO deals (Buy One Get One Free), and if you scan your MVP card at the kiosk located directly inside the front door, you even get extra coupons you can use!
With the savings available at Food Lion increasing, be sure to look out for valuable store coupons to print out with your receipt. I used two of these during this store visit to save over $5! Check out this deal on pickles I snagged. They were on sale as a BOGO, and then I used a $1 off 2 coupon I had to snag two jars of pickles for $0.77 each!
I also found great deals on coffee, Pop Tarts, cereal, and meat. I LOVE Food Lion’s meat markdowns, and always take the chance to stock up!
Another one of my favorite things with the remodel are the wider aisles! With four kids in tow, it’s SO NICE to have more room in the aisles so I’m not always stressing that we are blocking the aisles.
The Food Lion brand, My Essentials, has gotten some great additions, and we purchase several My Essentials products from flour to eggs every week. They are good quality products that taste and act just like name brands.
Caitlyn and I used some of these products, along with a Food Lion lion-shaped cookie cutter sent to us, to create some delicious sugar cookies, paying tribute to our favorite store! Caitlyn said they ended up looking more like Food Lion poodles after they baked.
