I’ve been amazed at the mild weather we’ve had so far this winter. It’s especially been great, because that means the kids have still been able to play outside for long periods of time, and lately, they’ve been outside a lot! Mostly because of the new toy from PlaSmart they’ve been trying out. The Plasmacar is powered purely by little muscles and requires no batteries or any other assorted electrical gear. It’s a ride on toy that holds up to 220 pounds! Yes, I just seriously said 220 pounds! If you haven’t at least seen the Plasmacar, I would be very surprised since it’s been a pretty hot toy. It’s built to last, and can provide lots of fun and entertainment, not to mention exercise. Kylie shot a quick video of John David playing on our Plasmacar last week. Check it out!
You can find the Plasmacar on line at WoodenToddlerToys.com for about $60. The Wooden Toddler Toys website is a great place to find unique and hard-to-find toddler toys and kids furniture at affordable prices! The Plasmacar features six wheels, a steering wheel, seat, and footrests. It’s available in a variety of colors including blue, pink, purple, and red, and its sleek and aerodynamic look makes it fun to race around in. One of my favorite aspects of the Plasmacar is that it works for a variety of ages. The kids at my house (from 3 to almost 11) ALL love to ride on it and can operate it fairly easily with a simple turning of the steering wheel back and forth. The faster you and harder you turn the wheel, the more momentum and speed you can work up. The Plasmacar works best on a flat smooth surface. Another great toy from PlaSmart that also requires no batteries but will give hours of entertainment is the Perplexus 3D marble maze ball. We featured this ball in our hot holiday toys segment we did for our local NBC station back in November. You can view the segment here. We have the original version that we got back during the summer. This toy is so fun and great for all ages! It also comes in a junior version for the younger ones, and an ‘epic’ version for Perplexus masters. Basically, you maneuver a small steel ball along a 3D track inside the ball. It’s not as easy as it sounds, and becomes so addictive! You have to carefully turn the maze as your small ball follows the track, slowly flipping and twisting the maze around all while trying to keep the ball on the track – no small feat. There’s one main track, but you can start at three different points along the track for shorter or longer play. Perplexus is great for challenging kids, and encouraging them to exercise their motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Find out more at www.perplexus.net. Perplexus balls retails for around $20 and is available at specialty stores. Find a retailer near you.
